July 4 traffic and parking advisory

Parking the entire length of Main Street will be prohibited from 1 a.m. on July 4 until after the parade is over later that afternoon.  Vehicles parked on Main Street during this time will be ticketed and towed at owner expense.

People coming to Mandan for the parade should use not only the Main Street exit 155, but also the Mandan Avenue exit 153 and the Sunset Drive exit 152.  The Main Street entrance to Mandan is usually heavily congested and can be slow for traffic coming into the city during this event.

Traffic in bound from I-94 will begin to be detoured from Main Street at 8 a.m.  If you need to go south of Mandan for any reason, please arrange your travel plans to do so prior to 8 a.m. to avoid delays or inconvenience.

The Street Festival, Classic Car Parade & Ribbon Cutting for Old Red/Old Ten Byway Events will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Main Street , prior to the parade.

The parade will leave Dacotah Centennial Park at 9:30 a.m.

After the parade begins, traffic traveling north and/or south of Mandan will be extremely limited with the possibility of long delays until the parade is over.

Plans for 2009 Art In The Park are underway.  Applications for Craft Vendors and Food Vendors are available.  Call 701-751-2983 to request an application.

Fort Lincoln Trolley – Departing from the Third Street SE Station thru the scenic Heart River Valley to Ft. Lincoln State Park, 1 to 5 p.m. Call 663-9018.

June 30 & July 1

7:30 pm. – Kaleidoscope Variety Show. Mandan High School Auditorium. Comedy, chorus line, choir and pit orchestra, patriotic music and more; $8 admission; for more info call the Musicians Association, phone 426-3340.

 

Thursday, July 2

Noon - Miss Rodeo Mandan Pageant Luncheon, Seven Seas, contestant speeches, modeling and impromptu questions. Tickets $13 in advance. Call 701-527-5118 or e-mail keelys99@yahoo.com before June 26. Tickets $15 at door.

7 p.m. - Bike Decorating Contest and Parade ,at the Depot on Main Street. Open to non-motorized bikes; judging based on originality and imagination. Age groups 7 & under, and up to 18. First place $50, 2nd $25 and 3rd $10 in each age group. Sponsored by Ressler Siding & Windows.

8:00 - Official Rodeo Days Dance, Lonesome Dove, On The Strip, music by Whiskie Annie, beer garden and concessions on patio.

 

Friday, July 3

7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pancake Breakfast. Pancakes, sausage and beverage served by the KC Club. 

9 a.m. – 9 p.m.   Art in the Park. Dykshoorn Park. Over 140 art and craft vendors from clothing to jewelry, fine art to pottery, woods or floral, it’s all here. Over 30 food booths – a culinary delight! Live entertainment from country music to folk music and more! Check out detailed schedule at the bandshell. West River Winds concert tonight.

11 a.m.               Starion Financial 20th Annual Summer Celebration. First Avenue NW & First Street NW. Sebastian Sioux Line Express from Papa's Pumpkin Patch with departures at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Watermelon Eating Contest at 1 p.m. for ages 12-16 and 17 and over, call 667-1613 to pre-register; face-painting, balloon animals, aqua blaster, obstacle course and more!

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mandan Merchants “Wild West” Sidewalk Sales, Main Street. Shop and rope in extra savings.

2-3 p.m. - Covered Wagon Rides. Boarding at Art in the Park. Free!

5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. American Legion Baseball. Dave Ressler Field. Mandan A's vs. Bismarck Reps and the Mandan Chiefs host the Bismarck Governors.

5 p.m. - Pitchfork Fondue, Mandan Moose Lodge, 111 11th Avenue NE, steak dinner with all the fixings.

6 p.m. - Doll & Pet Parade. Open to kids up to 11 years of age. Bring your trikes, wagons, dolls and pets for your own special parade by Art in the Park, Dykshoorn Park.

7 to 12:30           All Class Reunion. Park east of Depot on Main Street. Beer garden, food, DJ. In case of inclement weather, it will be held at the Mandan Community Center. Sponsored by Ressler Chevrolet and  Subaru.

7 p.m. - Party on the Prairie, Crying Hill Prairie at east end of Division Street, opening with Quintana Biffert followed by 32 Below.

8:00 - Official Rodeo Days Dance, Lonesome Dove, On The Strip, music by Whiskie Annie, beer garden and concessions on patio.

 

Saturday, July 4

7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pancake Breakfast. Pancakes, sausage and beverage served by the KC Club.  

7 a.m. - Mandan Rodeo Days Annual Road Race & Walk. 10K and 5K run and 5K walk on Main Street. Pre-register for $12 at Mandan Community Center; $15 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on race day at Central Market.

8:30 a.m. - Street Festival. Entertainment up and down Main Street, from bands to magic, cowboy action performers and more!

8:30 a.m. - Classic Car Parade leaves Midway Lanes

9 a.m. - Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway Ribbon Cutting at the 400 block of West Main St.

9 a.m. – 5 p.m.   Art in the Park, Dykshoorn Park. Over 120 art and craft vendors fom clothing to jewelry, fine art to pottery, woods or floral, it’s all here. Over 25 food booths. Live entertainment. Check out daily schedule at the bandshell for times and groups playing.

10 a.m.       Parade. Main Street. Featuring more than 150 units, horses, wagons, marching bands, floats, antique cars and tractors. Visit www.mandanparade.com or call 751-2983.

Noon - Rodeo Days Golf Tournament. Prairie West Golf Course. Two-person best ball, 18 holes best ball medal play, call 667-3222.

1 p.m. - Mandan Eagles Parade Feed. 1400 Collins Avenue. Burgers and all the fixings in air-conditioned comfort.

1 p.m. - Mandan Moose Parade Feed, 111 11th Avenue NE.

2 p.m. - Cowboy Action Performers, east of the Depot on Main.

2 & 4:30 p.m. American Legion Baseball, Mandan A's vs. Bismarck Reps and Mandan Chiefs vs. Bismarck Governors

4 p.m. - American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
